Primary Care

Annual Wellness Exams
We recommend yearly wellness exams for all pets in our care. These visits give our doctors the chance to catch health issues early, track changes over time, and keep your pet feeling their very best.
During a comprehensive physical exam, our veterinarians carefully evaluate your pet from nose to tail, including:
-
Eyes – Checking for discharge, abnormal movement, reaction to light, eyelid concerns, or signs of retinal disease.
-
Ears – Looking for signs of infection such as pain, swelling, redness, odor, mites, tumors, or eardrum issues.
-
Mouth – Assessing breath, tartar buildup, gingivitis, oral tumors, gum health, tonsils, and hydration.
-
Heart – Listening for normal rhythm, murmurs, or signs of valvular disease.
-
Lungs – Evaluating for wheezing, crackling, muffled heart sounds, or abnormal airway noise.
-
Abdomen – Feeling for organ enlargement (liver, spleen, kidneys), bladder health, stones, intestinal changes, discomfort, or excess fluid.
-
Legs & Joints – Checking for muscle balance, grinding or fluid in joints, limited range of motion, bone or joint pain, and lameness.
-
Skin, Coat & Nails – Examining coat quality, lumps and bumps, dandruff, saliva staining, fleas/ticks, rashes, infections, nail length, and anal gland concerns.
-
Lymph Nodes & Thyroid – Monitoring for changes in size or irregularities.
These thorough exams help us ensure that nothing is missed and that your pet stays happy, healthy, and comfortable at every stage of life.
Puppy and Kitten Exams
At every comprehensive exam, we dedicate ample time for both the examination and for discussing any concerns you may have. For new puppies and kittens, we are sure to set aside additional time to accommodate their unique needs during this crucial life stage. This dedicated time allows us to:
-
Develop a customized vaccination protocol for your new pet's best health.
-
Provide expert recommendations on nutrition, training, and socialization to help them thrive in their new home.
-
Ensure all your questions about your young pet's health and well-being are thoroughly answered."

Senior Pet Exams
Our veterinarians provide lifelong care tailored to your pet’s stage of life. As pets age, their risk for certain health issues increases, and regular care allows us to detect and manage problems before they become serious.
For senior pets, we may recommend:
-
Comprehensive lab work – to check organ function (kidney, liver, thyroid) and detect illness early.
-
Dental care – since dental disease is common in older pets and can lead to pain and infection.
-
Arthritis prevention and treatment – to support mobility and keep your pet comfortable as joints naturally stiffen with age.
-
Nutrition and lifestyle guidance – to help maintain a healthy weight, muscle tone, and cognitive health.
-
Customized monitoring – for conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, or age-related changes in behavior.
By personalizing care to your pet’s needs, we can help them enjoy a longer, healthier, and more comfortable life.
Integrated Medicine
We offer integrative treatment options that combine the best of traditional and alternative therapies to support your pet’s healing and well-being. Acupuncture and cold laser therapy are gentle, non-invasive treatments that can complement conventional care for a variety of conditions.

For pets who may benefit from integrative care, we may recommend:
-
Acupuncture – the placement of tiny needles at specific points to stimulate the nervous system, promote circulation, relieve pain, and support healing. It’s commonly used for arthritis, neurological issues, chronic pain, and mobility problems.
-
Cold laser therapy – a painless treatment that uses light energy to reduce inflammation, increase blood flow, and accelerate tissue repair. It can be helpful for wounds, joint pain, post-surgical healing, and more.
-
Combined therapy plans – using acupuncture and laser together or alongside medications and physical therapy to create a well-rounded approach to recovery and wellness.
-
Individualized care – tailored to your pet’s specific condition, temperament, and response to treatment, whether they’re dealing with a chronic illness or recovering from injury.

These therapies are safe for pets of all ages and can greatly improve comfort, mobility, and quality of life—especially when integrated into a broader treatment plan.

Exotic Pet Exams
Care for Exotic Pets
Our veterinarians offer specialized care for exotic animals, including birds, reptiles, and small mammals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and other pocket pets. These unique companions require species-specific knowledge and handling, and we’re equipped to support their health at every stage of life.
For exotic pets, we may recommend:
-
Routine wellness exams – to monitor weight, behavior, and overall health, which can help detect issues early before they become serious.
-
Husbandry and nutrition counseling – to ensure your pet’s environment, diet, and care routines support their species-specific needs.
-
Diagnostic testing – including bloodwork, fecal exams, and imaging to investigate symptoms that may not be obvious.
-
Beak, nail, and wing trims (for birds) – to promote comfort, safety, and mobility.
-
Parasite screening and treatment – especially for reptiles and pocket pets, where signs of illness can be subtle.
-
Behavior and enrichment advice – to support mental stimulation and reduce stress, which can impact overall health.
-
Because exotic pets often hide signs of illness, regular check-ups and informed care are essential. We're here to help your unique companion live a healthy, happy life.
Consultations
Beyond routine checkups, our team provides specialized consultations to address your pet’s unique needs and support their overall well-being:
-
Behavioral – We practice Fear Free medicine to reduce stress both in the clinic and at home. If your pet is struggling with behavior concerns, we’ll help determine whether the cause is medical or behavioral. Some issues can be improved with at-home training guided by our team. For more complex cases, our office manager—a Certified Pet Dog Trainer specializing in anxiety and aggression—can provide support, or we can connect you with additional professionals as needed.
-
Nutritional – Nutrition plays a vital role in your pet’s health. Our doctors can create tailored plans for weight management, chronic illness support, or specialized medical diets. We carry a range of prescription foods and can order additional options as part of your pet’s care.
-
Orthopedic – While we do not perform orthopedic surgery, we provide consultations to help determine the best treatment plan and refer to trusted specialists when needed. We also offer OFA certification using state-of-the-art digital radiography.
-
Quality of Life – For pets facing advanced age or illness, we provide compassionate quality-of-life consultations. Our team is here to guide and support you through palliative care decisions and, when the time comes, euthanasia and cremation services.
